Charles Ho captures first Global gold
Charles Ho became the first Met Leaguer to capture Gold Medal honors in the Global Games competition on Wednesday night. Ho, the owner and manager of the Brooklyn Batmen MBLS franchise, finished the 2006-2007 Global Games season on top of the standings, leading the field by earning 1.3 million metros. MBLS commissioner and Oakland Mules owner-manager Brian Beck captured the Silver medal by winning 1.175 million metros, while Jeff Kuo - owner and manager of the Seattle Whales MBLS franchise - finished third with 825,000 metros to capture the Bronze medal. The three winners represented the top three metro earners over the 2006-07 games season.
Ho - an MBLS veteran since 1998 - captured the title by dominating the Met Leagues sports prediction contests over the past year. The Peppers advanced all the way to the Champions League tournament final in 2006, before bowing to the Atlanta Armadillos. In addition to managing the Mules since 2003, Beck is the owner of the Operation Shutdown golf team competing in the Metropolitan Golf League, and the Count of Monte Fisto team in the Metropolitan Racing Association.
